Middlesex County Education Association PRIDE in Public Education
Safety Awareness Poster Contest  WINNERS For 2009

Thank you to all the public school children who participated in our first annual Safety Awareness Poster Contest.

All of the entries for this contest will be displayed at the sixth annual MCEA PRIDE in Public Education Fair on May 30 from 11 to 1 PM at the Middlesex County Vocational Technical High School, Rues Lane, East Brunswick, NJ. The judges were representatives of many school districts in Middlesex County – and now it is your turn to assist us with determining the final TOP THREE PRIZE WINNERS.  We will be awarding prizes to all of our ten contest winners, but the First, Second and Third Place winners will be decided at the MCEA PRIDE Fair on May 30.  Each adult attending the fair will receive an entry ticket they can use to “vote” for any one of the TOP TEN  posters. The winners will be announced at 12:45 PM at the May 30 Fair.  Winners do not need to be present to win.  And now, in alphabetical order, are our ten winners:

“Teachers Who Make Magic” Winners!

This year, NJEA sponsored the “Teachers Who Make Magic” program with Greater Media Radio New Jersey.  This program honors 72 outstanding teachers in the northern, central, and southern parts of the state who will be recognized for their contributions to their schools and their communities.   

NJEA is pleased to inform you that 18 NJEA members will be honored at a special banquet on Tuesday, March 24 at the Pines Manor, located at 2085 State Route 27 in Edison.  The evening will begin with a cocktail reception from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by the banquet from 7 to 9 p.m.

Help Gilda’s Club Help Those Living with Cancer
 
Each year, NJEA members show their compassion, commitment,
and gratitude at the NJEA Convention by contributing to a charity
that benefits New Jersey residents. This year’s recipient, Gilda’s Club,
has been featured on NJEA’s Emmy-winning show Classroom Close-up, NJ.

Gilda’s Club provides a place where men,women,and teens
with cancer and their families and friends join with others to build
social and emotional support as a sup-plement to medical care.
Gilda’s Club believes that no one should have to face cancer alone.

Cancer Fact:1 out of 2 men and 2 out of 3 women will be touched
by cancer.

Free of charge and non-prof-it,Gilda’s Club offers support
and networking groups, lectures,workshops and social events
in a nonresidential, home-like setting.

Gilda’s Club South Jersey received its charter in May 2002.
Gilda’s Club North Jersey received its charter in 1997.

Jersey are part of a world- wide organization headquartered in
New York.There are currently Gilda’s Clubs in 21 cities in the US
and Canada.There are six more clubs preparing to open.

Gilda’s Club South Jersey and Gilda’s Club North Jersey
have identical programs – including Noogieland for children
touched by cancer.  Our monthly calendars can be seen on our
websites. The first step into Gilda’s Club is through a welcoming
orientation called a “new member meeting.”

Gilda’s Club South Jersey and Gilda’s Club North Jersey has a
small paid staffs and rely heavily on the talent and good will of
a cadre of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Gilda’s Club South Jersey and Gilda’s Club North Jersey are
sustained entirely by individual contributions, corporate
sponsors,event fundraisers, and private foundations.
